Dry, Wet, Dry Process Life Drawing
These drawings began with a layer of dry media. In most cases it was simply, charcoal, but it can also be done with chalk pastel. Once that layer is blocked in, the whole drawing will be covered with a layer of gesso, which may or may not be tinted with acrylic paint. After the gesso has thoroughly dried, the final dry layer consists of graphite and white charcoal pencils. Over the years, I have learned to appreciate keeping my marks as minimal as possible in the final layer. I am not always successful at that, but it is a good challenge.
